What we build

The hands-on work that small aerospace companies need done well and can't always staff: low-volume builds from your drawings, to your traveller, with a record of every step.

An UBCO on the lift, Sheffield Crescent — electric drivetrains and battery packs are everyday work.

We take on contract work year-round. Our largest capacity is available from May to October, and we scale the team for ongoing contracts through the summer.

How we work

Our discipline comes from maintaining a large fleet to BMW Motorrad standards, where every job is torqued, checked and signed.

Who we are

Airframe Works is the contract assembly division of NZBike, New Zealand's first motorcycle rental company, founded in 1987 and based in Christchurch. NZBike runs a fleet of more than 80 late-model machines, maintained in its own workshop by BMW Motorrad-trained technicians, and is the Christchurch service agent for UBCO and FTN Motion, New Zealand's own electric motorcycle makers.

The founder and the workshop manager are both pilots. We know what airworthy means, and we know what it takes on the ground to get there.

Tell us what you're building and what you're short of hands for. One subassembly run, a harness batch, a test rig or a ground-support build is the right size to start with — judge us on the result.
